» 24.01.2012 | First SGNI gold pre-certificate |
New sustainability certificate by the Swiss Sustainable Building Council (SGNI)

Swiss premiere
The very first SGNI pre-certificates were awarded by the Swiss Sustainable Building Council during the Swissbau construction and real estate trade fair on 18 January 2012 in Basel. Intep’s “Majowa” project received the gold certificate – a Swiss premiere. The project developer and builder, Losinger Marazzi AG, the Swiss Post and Intep’s DGNB (German Sustainable Building Council) auditor, Thomas Rühle, were among the guests.

DGNB criteria adapted to Swiss requirements
The WankdorfCity in Berne, Switzerland, is a newly developed urban commercial district, designed to meet stringent energy and sustainability requirements. The “Majowa” and “Twist Again” projects, developed by Losinger Marazzi AG and already certified according to the DGNB sustainability label, was awarded the SGNI gold pre-certificate, adapted to Swiss requirements. In view of better local market acceptance, the builder had insisted on switching to the Swiss system. With both German and Swiss standards already taken into account, “Majowa” served as an ideal pilot project for the ongoing adaptation of the DGNB criteria to Swiss requirements, regulations and standards. The Swiss Post’s headquarters will be located in this innovative building as of 2014.

About SGNI
The Swiss Sustainable Building Council focuses on a comprehensive quality concept for the construction and real estate sector. Based on the internationally recognized DGNB criteria, the SGNI rating system covers all relevant fields of sustainable design. Outstanding buildings are recognized according to a gold – silver – bronze system, taking into account various sustainability aspects such as ecology, cost-effectiveness, socio-cultural and functional aspects, technology, processes and the building site. Defining the sustainability targets in the early planning stages, the label lays the groundwork for sustainable, innovative, state-of-the-art buildings.
