“Opportunities and obstacles on the road to sustainable planning and building“: a publication on Professor Peter Steiger, founder of Intep

"Why architecture? This question becomes even more relevant when it comes to economizing materials through intelligent use, incorporating visible traces of human activities in the solar cycle, and respecting the right to clean natural resources such as water and air." Peter Steiger

The monograph by and on Professor Peter Steiger was presented to an interested audience and the press in Zurich. It does not only provide a summary on past and present works of the architect, founder of Intep and professor at the university of Darmstadt, but also a testimony of the sustainability movement and its developments up until today.

Peter Steiger (*1927) has worked as an architect for large companies such as CERN, IBM and Göhner. He has carried out pioneering projects of urban and regional planning in Switzerland such as reduced building intensity for the Sils plains, as well as in Germany establishing the urban development framework for the conversion of the former airport site in Munich-Riem. Peter Steiner has been committed to topics such as energy, ecology and sustainable building which became manifest early on in his life not only in his designs and buildings but also in his lectures at Darmstadt university as well as in the publications by the workgroup PLENAR.
