Ambitious goals: the Real Estate Master Plan 2020Western Wisconsin Technical College (WTC) consists of a main campus in La Crosse (Wisconsin) as well as additional regional Learning Centers throughout the state of Wisconsin. Its real estate portfolio includes university facilities with a total area of nearly 80,000 m2 (approx. 861,000 sq ft). Intep Minneapolis and Intep Munich are providing strategic consulting services for the management of WTC’s real estate portfolio.
This mandate is based on the American College & University Presidents Climate Commitment (www.presidentsclimatecommitment.org) which has also been signed by the president of WTC. Section 1 of the Climate Commitment reads:
“We, the undersigned presidents and chancellors of colleges and universities, are deeply concerned about the unprecedented scale and speed of global warming and its potential for large-scale, adverse health, social, economic and ecological effects. We recognize the scientific consensus that global warming is real and is largely being caused by humans. We further recognize the need to reduce the global emission of greenhouse gases by 80% by mid-century at the latest, in order to avert the worst impacts of global warming and to reestablish the more stable climatic conditions that have made human progress over the last 10,000 years possible.”
In addition to an evaluation of all properties, the Master Plan 2020 includes a maintenance and restoration strategy as well as an energy action plan in order to reduce CO2-emissions by 50% by the year 2020.
